New Zealand Horse Riding Holidays

New Zealand, thought to be by some (including us here are Horse Hire) to possibly the most naturally stunning place on Earth is a perfect place for horse trekking and a New Zealand Horse riding holiday.

The first European settlers arrived in New Zealand and saw that it was in a nutshell huge. There was so much wilderness to try to conquer and tame that they only way to fully appreciate the landscape and to traverse the terrine properly was on horseback.

The vast Hurunui Mountain range on the South Island is home to the most visually appealing country anywhere in the world. With trails offering panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, rivers and lakes it’s not hard to see why New Zealand is the best trekking in the world. Staying in a New Zealand log cabin is much like staying in a Big Bear Cabin Rentals cabin; superb quality, warm and well furnished.

So we might have a small infatuation with New Zealand but believe us that if you want to combine a holiday with some horse riding – a horse riding holiday to New Zealand is the place to visit.

So What Should You See when on your New Zealand horse riding holiday? Well how much time do you have?

Wherever your trek takes you on New Zealand you are sure of views to last a lifetime. With many stunning lakes, national parks, natural phenomena and historic and cultural sights.

Some personal highlights that we have enjoyed are trekking around Taiaroa Head (just outside Dunedin) where you can spot colonies of royal albatross or maybe Cape Kidnappers by Hawkes Bay where there is the only gannets colony in the world.

Another must see is the Southern Alps around Aoraki Mount Cook where the long treks up the mountain are rewarded by alpine views that will blow your socks off and crystal clear lakes that go on forever.

Like we mentioned we might have slightly more than a passing infatuation with seeing New Zealand on horse back but believe us when we say it really is the trip of a lifetime.
